If you missed part 1, no worries, read it here before continuing.

God as The Author and Agent of Creativity

I thank the Lord that He encourages diversity. He has made people of various races and ethnicities, languages, cultures, gifts and talents, all for the edification and glorification of the body of Christ. After all, He is the Master Creator, He Ex Nihilo’d the universe - made tens out of zeros and developed pictures out of negatives. He wove this tapestry of the universe into existence with words and He continues to baffle to this day - He da real MVP!!

Think of the planets, the moon and the stars; think of Jupiter, Uranus, and Mars. Look at the wonders of the world and the beauty that we behold every waking day and just ruminate on the Creator of it all. Wrap your mind around the fact that He has deposited much more than gold in our souls; and has tucked away a gift that He wants us to discover under the tree like a child on Christmas Day. A gift that He wants you to cherish for years and not just one-time use, while eagerly awaiting what’s in store next Christmas.

James 1:17 says “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.”

God ‘stays’ creating and His works are unmatched and unparalleled. He is still turning heads and confounding ‘wise ones’ with the foolish things of this world (1 Corinthians 1:27). His art is forever on display in, through and all around us and we can tap into this store of creativity simply by removing ourselves from the equation. It is when we remove ourselves from the busyness and distractions of life and ‘come away’ with Jesus to the other side that we would be amazed at how we see things; and at how He transforms our Mondays into Fridays and makes everyday a Sundae.

While the earth’s non-renewable resources will one day tap out, creativity cannot be exhausted and who best to draw from than the fountain of living water that never runs dry. But, it is important to know the Giver of Gifts and to have a relationship with Him and not just seek Him for His gift giving.

The Conclusion of The Matter

We are all beings with an endless store of potential. They say necessity is the mother of invention and I believe that not just a select group of people are laden with certain gifts- we can all be creative.

The word says in 1 Peter 4:10-11 “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen”. (Emphasis mine)

Whether we are creating a culinary delight or solving complex equations if we put our hearts and souls into it, we will be surprised at what we would discover.

There is so much more that I can say about creativity but I am constrained by a word limit and attention spans *smile*. Nevertheless, endeavour to use your gifts and talents to the glory of God with which He has endowed you. There are so many resources out there like Pinterest that can help you get your creative juices flowing.

Challenge yourself to learn a new skill or to discover prayerfully what gifts God has given you. If I didn’t, I don’t think that I would have discovered that in addition to poetry, I can make my favourite confectionery- fudge, lemongrass oil for my hair or even hair accessories. Our passions often fuel our creativity and the thing about creativity is that you are required to step out of your box or comfort zone and explore new horizons. Think outside the box and step out!

Create-I-Have, I am creative! *wink*
